More than just a school

Jaroslava Baconová, Coordination and Library

For the third year running, our Czech teacher Jaroslava Baconová is in charge of the syllabus for high school students and adults. Her former students can be found all over the world, in Prague, Glasgow, New Orleans. She even ran her own Czech kindergarten in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Jaroslava co-founded the new Ottawa Czech School

Lucie Koďousková, Kids Program Leader, Young Kids Classes

Lucie Koďousková, a certified elementary school teacher and teacher for children with special needs, is looking after our youngest students. With her love for arts and crafts, she can handle even our most restless kids.

Co-founded the new Ottawa Czech School

David Beneš, Administration and Community Events

David Beneš remembers the former Czech school in Ottawa not only as a parent, but even as a pupil. When not working on school accounts, he’s taking over any class that needs his help.

Michelle Havel, Older Kids Classes and Summer School

Michelle Havel works with our older kids. In addition to her background as an elementary school teacher, she brings valuable experience from the Montessori system to the team.

Pavel Oškrkaný, Online Teens and Adult Classes

Pavel Oškrkaný joined our team in January 2022. Secondary school teacher of history, geography, and a poet in his spare time, Pavel is presently teaching our high school and adult classes.

Michelle Čipera, Community Outrech and Library

Míša Čipera makes sure that our school and its values reach beyond language instruction. She is helping us build a profound, meaningful place devoted to Czech culture within our Czech Canadian community. She is actively looking for community partners for our Czech Canadian Heritage Library and bilingual community events.

Volunteers

If you enjoy working with children or adults and want to be more involved in the Czech community, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We have plenty of ideas but somewhat less resources to make them happen. We welcome your ideas and help.
