More than just a school

Easter 2022 at the Czech Embassy was fun for kids and parents alike. Thanks to our adult students there was enough of the most tasty Easter beránek and mazanec for everybody! (April 9, 2022)

Children and adults joined the inaugural Sokol Republic Run. With a total of 70 participants, this marked the beginning of a new Sokol tradition. Students from as far away as Toronto and Hamilton travelled to take part.

The leading Czech novelist, Alena Mornštajnová, sent a virtual greeting to all her Czech and Canadian readers for our first book club, dedicated to her novel Hana.

When the Czech illustrator Lomová drew funny cartoons to explain the subtle differences between doplavat and uplavat during our first online workshop for teens and adults, we were all glued to our computer screens, smiling.

Lucie Lomová, an accomplished Czech comic book author, charmed our kids while teaching them how to draw her famous cartoon characters Anča and Pepík.  No wonder that their final year project, an illustrated Jamboard booklet My World, took off so beautifully after her presentation!

The creativity and curiosity of our students was not to be stopped by new reality of online teaching. We are now all pro of Jamboard, Quizlet, VoiceThreads, and learning and crafts via Google Meets.

Glebe Collegiate High School and Hopewell Elementary School welcomed our first students in September 2019.  We had enough time to hold our first Christmas party and taste first of our recipes class cookbook recipes. (school year 2019/20)
